A quest for meaningful flow

Discover a movement practice that attunes you to your inner and outer landscape to find focus, clarity, stillness and pure joy.

What comes to mind when you think of flow in the context of yoga? Likely, fast-paced movement, sweaty vinyasa and a physical focus with little attention to the quality of the breath or the subtle yet powerful shifts happening within. Vikasa FLOW is a unique style of yoga rooted in the Vikasa Method. From the Vikasa Method, our FLOW classes honor slow graceful movement, long holds and a keen awareness and respect of the breath. Where FLOW takes on a style of its own is in the intentional format of the class which is structured around repetition, with a sequenced ladder flow which works towards a peak pose.

FLOW Classes have their own narrative, their own unique story arc that carries the yoga practitioner on a journey. Starting with meditation and pranayama to center and establish focus, FLOW then moves through a sequence designed to move and challenge the physical body, open and nourish the emotional body, and allow space and curiosity in the spiritual body.

Leave your preconceived notions of FLOW at the door.

Modern Vinyasa Flow is very much rooted in physical asana poses, and while Vikasa FLOW is also a very physical practice, it pays equal attention to the other elements at play. This results in a practice that leaves you feeling deeply connected and embodied, with positive benefits that transcend the yoga mat experience. Classes are structured around music, developed specifically for these classes, to enhance the union between breath and movement and draw you into a deeper internal journey.

Each FLOW Class includes:

  • Meditation and Pranayama – to balance, soothe, focus and refresh in body and mind
  • Asana- the specific poses guided through an intelligently-informed ladder sequence
  • A Peak Pose- that the class builds towards and prepares the body to practice
  • Music-  soundtracks designed to create focus, connection and inner reflection

For yoga teachers, Niki will demonstrate exactly how to format and teach a Vikasa FLOW class and the importance of intention and expression. You will discover why and how engineering your classes in advance will create the most powerful and impactful experience for your students. Niki will teach you subtle yet profound techniques to instill your classes with a power and potency that will leave your students returning again and again.

This is done by understanding things like: how you as a teacher move around the room and hold the space, how to instruct verbally and how to create pockets of silence for inner reflection, how to open and close the practice with intention, when to demonstrate and mirror, and how to create themed classes which still allow for meaning to come from within each student, rather than from an external source.

The FLOW 100hr training will allow plenty of time for you to practice, and from there, your teaching will also come to life. When you are able to feel the effects of the practice and understand the power in the play of movement and stillness, you too will have the capacity to curate classes which are not only physically impactful, but deeply meaningful and transformational.

This is an invitation for personal evolution, as well as professional growth as a teacher. You will walk away with 7 set Vikasa FLOW sequences that you can practice, teach and adapt as you please. Each of the 7 sequences will have its own music track, its own peak pose and ladder flow, and its own theme. These will be 90 minute classes, however, Niki will also teach you how to structure Vikasa FLOW to suit one hour or even two hour class durations. You will also leave with the understanding of how to create your own flow classes, with a thorough embodied sense of the ingredients and method that will allow you to craft classes based on your own personal style and interpretation.

Each day will start with a 2.5 hour morning ritual and practice guided by Niki and Michael. Each day will also end with a practice, the morning class being a little more strenuous and the evening class being a little softer in its approach, During the day there will be two workshops, one more practical, and one more theoretical, to help you walk away with a thorough understanding of the Vikasa FLOW method. Niki also brings a host of related yoga and wellness modalities into the course with practices including Yoga Nidra, Kundalini Meditation, Gong and Sound. Prepare to move, breathe, feel and open up to a brand new way of practicing and teaching.

Our Student Reviews

Yoga Teacher Trainings are not just about getting a certificate – you’re getting a community. Yoga Teacher Trainings can be literally life-changing / Earth-shattering experiences; and that’s all down to the beautiful souls they attract. We encourage prospective students to reach out to Vikasa alumni on social networks and ask them for their unbiased review. Here are just a few:

Niki is a remarkable teacher whose deep knowledge and genuine passion for yoga shine through in every class. I’ve had the privilege of joining her in multiple teacher trainings and classes, and each session is a unique, transformative experience. Niki shares from the heart, creating a compassionate and welcoming space that nurtures growth and self-exploration. Her commitment to her students’ journeys is unmistakable, which is why we all keep returning for more of that special Niki magic!

Ness

There is something truely magical about how Niki guides people through a class and the way she creates energy in the room. Each class is a deep, nourishing and insightful journey, from start to end. The way the classes build, the grace of the flows, the focus on the breath and the guidance of Niki’s voice all combine to create a class that is brimming with intention and exploration. Being able to practice and learn from Niki is a gift that anyone who is passionate about yoga should treat themselves to experience.

Kelly

Niki has an authentic and unique approach to her flow classes. Her passion and compassion shine through in every session. Whether it’s a strong or gentle practice, her flows are always deeply mindful. From her thoughtful sequencing to the intentional choice of words and even the music, every detail is crafted with care. I highly recommend Niki to both practitioners and teachers who are looking to bring more depth into their practice and classes through breathwork, affirmations, love, and a touch of magic!

Frequently Asked Questions

Browse the FAQ or get in touch with one of our instructors for personal assistance.

Vikasa is located in Koh Samui, Thailand. Vikasa is located in the south east of the island, close to Lamai and approximately 20 minutes by taxi from Koh Samui International Airport (USM).

The best way to get to Vikasa is to fly into Koh Samui International Airport (USM).  There are daily flights into Koh Samui from Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and others. Alternatively, the Vikasa team can also arrange your pick up from the airport. Flying is the quickest route, but tourists and yoga enthusiasts can also travel by train and ferry which takes approximately 13.5 hours.

This will depend on where you are from.  For details of Thailand’s visa arrangements with specific countries see here.

Although tourist visas are generally required, there is an exemption for travelers from 30 countries (Australia, UK, USA, France, Germany, Sweden and others) who wish to travel to Thailand for 30 days or less.  If you are a citizen of one of these countries you do not need to obtain a visa.  Note that if you plan to stay for longer than 30 days, it is possible to obtain a short extension from the immigration office on Koh Samui at some point during your stay.

If you are not a citizen of one of the countries with which Thailand has specific visa exemption or waiver arrangements, you will need to obtain a 30, 60 or 90 day tourist visa before arriving in Thailand

Anyone is welcome to join this 100 Hour Yoga Training. You do not need to be a yoga teacher and there are no prerequisites to join. It can be advantageous to have some previous experience in practicing Yoga, but most importantly that you possess a passion to learn and grow.

Yoga clothes, tropical climate clothes, and swimwear. Yoga mats and props and towels are all provided. You may want to add an excursion to your program such as a waterfall hike, in which case a pair of sneakers would also be handy.

You will receive a certificate of completion of 100 hours of training. If you already hold a 200hr certification, this will count as 100 hours of continuing education with Yoga Alliance (100 YACEP).

Koh Samui is a beautiful tropical island located in the Gulf of Thailand.  It is approximately 90 minutes from the mainland via ferry, but is easily accessible via airplane.  It has key infrastructure such as a small international airport, good medical facilities (including hospitals), banking facilities (including ATMs), good wifi coverage and good roads.  It is possible to drive around the entire island in around 90 minutes, and visitors generally either travel via scooter or taxi as walking is difficult.  Vikasa is located between Chaweng Noi and Lamai in a quiet area of the island.  It is possible to walk from Vikasa to nearby beaches, but guests generally stay on the Vikasa premises or rent scooters or taxis for trips to nearby markets and shopping malls.  The weather is generally hot year round, with temperatures often around 30 degrees celsius. This breathtaking island provides a perfect environment for practicing yoga due to its remote setting, natural surroundings, beautiful beaches, and untouched seas.

We recommend that participants download the free lifestyle guide and read up on the Vikasa Lifestyle before arrival. If you don’t have time to read it that’s alright too, simply bring an open mind and an open heart. You can also begin integrating weekly yin yoga practices to prepare for the course if you wish to.

The promotional offer of $250 off is available when booking 60 days prior to the YTT start date. Check the upcoming dates at the top of this page, if the promotion is available, it will be stated in green next to the date. Otherwise, you may contact us to confirm.

You will receive a certificate of completion of 100 hours of training. This course will qualify and enable you to teach Yin Yoga upon completion, however to become a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance, you do need to complete a 200hr Yoga Teacher Training also. If you already hold a 200hr certification, this will count as 100 hours of continuing education with Yoga Alliance (100 YACEP).

To attend the course, it can be advantageous to have previous experience in practicing yoga, most importantly you possess a passion to learn and grow.

No need to prepare, just come along ready to learn and flow!
