The Vikasa Yoga Academy
Certified and recognized since 11.11.11
The Vikasa Yoga Academy was created as a place for personal transformation in an academic setting. To evolve, means to fine tune your self-awareness and commitment to steady improvement. Whether that’s in your personal relationships, your work or your health. Personal evolution gives you the ability to create your life according to your deepest values and unique vision. It is your truth emerging from deep within. We place emphasis on the individual in the context of society. Our approach to learning and teaching yoga is based on individual empowerment and evolution. It takes influences from authentic Hatha Yoga lineages, Himalayan Buddhism, Taoism practices and modern science. We value authenticity and logic with a focus on self-love and evolution, meaning the teachings are designed to stand up in the context of our modern-day lifestyle. We teach students to adapt and evolve their practice to fit modern day life and adapt their practice to suit their own personality, style or needs. Since opening its doors on 11.11.11, Vikasa Yoga Academy has certified over 3,000 yoga teachers over the years, each one fully accredited and certified by the expert Vikasa Yoga teaching team as well as the internationally recognized Yoga Alliance. Today, our academy is stronger and more confident than ever as our years of evolution have not only formed excellent students but excellent teachers as well.
Over 15 years experience & 3000 students
The Vikasa Method
A unique curriculum evolving over 15 years with real results.
Our signature Foundation Yoga Teacher Training starts with a strong physical foundation, evolving into energetic, mental, emotional and spiritual practice. Key principles and rules of yoga are taught, allowing the teachers and dedicated practitioners to gain in-depth understanding, knowledge and insight into the methodology and the effects of yoga practice. Our approach encourages integration with society in a modern context. Our teaching modules each represent a pillar of the Vikasa Yoga Method: Mind, Body and Energy. This method of learning has taken years to refine and now provides a stable platform for learning on mental and physical levels.
If the Vikasa Method resonates with you, we invite you to schedule a conversation with our faculty.
This is not a sales call. It’s a focussed discussion to explore your background, your intention, and whether the 300-hour YTT is the right next step in your journey. Whether you are refining your teaching, deepening your embodiment, or clarifying your professional direction, this conversation will help you understand what is truly calling you forward
What I Will Learn
Evolution of Yoga - Kosta Miachin
Kosta refined his practice and teaching of yoga over two decades of experimentation with a number of styles and schools of yoga. The result of this experimentation and refinement is the Vikasa Method. In this module, “Evolution of Yoga”, Kosta leads practices (pranayama, kriya, meditation and asana) which are long and deep – the culmination of years of thoughtful practice, they are not simply physical practices but designed to work on all layers of the practitioner’s being, primarily the often forgotten energetic layer. The practices are physically and mentally challenging, and come with energetic payoffs hardly ever experienced in modern yoga. This module also includes a series of lectures in which Kosta traces the Vikasa Method back to the origins of yoga and situates it within that context and the relevant lineages. The lecture series also dives deep into the rationale behind the Vikasa Method providing a clear and scientific basis for all of the practices and an explanation of the effects.
You will learn:
- Advanced Asana
- Active Awareness Meditation
- Advanced Pranayama
- Kumbhaka - Retention of Breath
- Hatha Yoga Pradipika
- Intelligent Freestyle Sequencing
- Energetic Practice
- Mudra & Bandha
Deepen & Diversify - Mikey Lazano
Mikey is interested and stimulated by deep physical practice as well as unique techniques and practice modalities that are no longer widely practised within the yoga community. In this module, “Deepen and Diversify”, Mikey takes us on a journey through both of these passions. In Deepen, Mikey leads practices that are complex and physically challenging, designed for advanced practitioners. In Diversify, he leads a series of unique practices (Cross Mat, Mudra/Bandha, Full Surya Namaskar, Partner Yoga) and runs workshops and lectures where these practices are broken down and explained for those wishing to practice in that way themselves. The basics of teaching these practices are also explained.
You will learn:
- Advanced Asana Practice
- Advanced Asana Breakdown
- Art of Adjustment
- Advanced assisting
- Cross Mat practice
- Mandala Vinyasa
- Partner Yoga
- Mudra & Bandha practice
- Energetic Practice
- Complete Surya Namaskar Practice
The Art of Sequencing - All Teachers
All Vikasa Senior Teachers have their own individual take on the Vikasa Methodology and Vikasa sequencing principles. In this module, the teachers explain their different interpretations and show you how to sequence effectively and creatively using this methodology but with your own unique flavour. Kosta explains the genesis of the “intelligent freestyle” method. Mikey shows how to create sequences within that framework that are anatomically intelligent as well as fun. And Niki & Michael show how more flowy, vinyasa-style classes can be sequenced using the same principles. The teachers present a clear framework for their approach so that students can understand and replicate in their own teaching.
You will learn:
- Intelligent Freestyle Sequencing
- Freedom Within Structure
- Creating a Balanced Practice
- Influencing Energy Through Attention
- Digital Balancing of Directions of Mobility
- Principles of Intelligent Sequencing
- Flow - Uninterrupted Attention
- Ha Tha Flow
- Dynamic Flow
- Chill Flow
Wild Card - Guest Teacher
In addition to the Vikasa senior teaching team, every Advanced YTT features a guest teacher. The guest teachers have a diverse selection of backgrounds, talents and specialties. Be sure to check out the guest teachers who will be joining the upcoming Advanced Teacher Trainings when you book your next YTT 300.
Some of our past guest teachers have taught:
- Handstands & Inversions
- Keys to Enhancing Flexibility & Mobility
- Functional & Mindful Movement
- Spinal Waves
- Scalable Modifications & Variations
- Physical Optimization Through Non-Physical Practices
- Bulletproofing the Body
- Holistic Maintenance
Higher Yoga - Alex Vyazovov
Alex presents ancient yogic wisdom in a way that is digestible for a modern mind, and thus helps students make their practice more meaningful.
Since all Yoga traditions agree that cultivating the right view is the key ingredient to success on the spiritual path, Alex places focus on Yoga philosophy, and offers meditative exercises that help to embody it.
You will learn:
- History of Yoga
- The Upanishads
- Samkhya Philosophy
- The Bhagavad-Gita
- Classical Yoga vs Tantric Yoga
- Karma, Awakening & Liberation
- Advanced Pranayama practices
- Advanced Meditation practices
Making Magic - Niki & Michael
“Making Magic” is a module designed to help teachers find (or rediscover) their inspiration and passion for practising and teaching yoga. Niki and Michael lead (and teach you to teach) “transformational experiences” that are not standard yoga asana practices – dynamic meditations, dance, eye-gazing, guided relaxations, group bonding sessions – but are powerful and transformative for practitioners, and unique and interesting offerings for those leading retreats, trainings or “special occasion” type classes. This module also includes detailed exposition of other key (but often forgotten) advanced teaching skills such as touch, voice and holding space.
You will learn:
- How to create magic yoga classes
- How to facilitate transformational experiences for your students
- How to create clear, intelligent, effective and powerful asana sequences
- How to effectively utilise touch, smell, voice, sound and presence in your teaching

Learn from experts. Go deeper. Unlock the next level of teaching.
Many of our students choose a 300 hour teacher training to deepen their knowledge and refine their practice, rather than pursue an immediate career shift. However, if you do plan to teach yoga at an advanced or professional level, we fully support your path. Vikasa is fully accredited by Yoga Alliance, qualifying our graduates to teach anywhere in the world. Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT300) certificate, fully recognized by Yoga Alliance. This certification allows you to register with Yoga Alliance and complete your journey toward a 500 hour designation when combined with a 200 hour training. Vikasa’s 300 hour certification meets the global benchmark of quality set by Yoga Alliance, with registration costs included in your tuition. Explore expanded career opportunities through your certification, alumni network, and exclusive access to events.
Wellness Passion Careers
Reach for exciting opportunities in the wellness industry.
Vikasa Academy’s 300-hour yoga teacher training equips graduates for meaningful wellness careers rooted in skill, confidence, and authenticity. Beyond certification, trainings support personal wellness pivots into a new healthy lifestyle as well as professional pivots such as teaching, coaching, or simply networking. Many experience a life-purpose shift, aligning personal growth with professional direction, community impact, and sustainable career paths in the global wellness industry after graduation.
The person on the yoga mat next to you, might be your next colleague or business partner. Are you ready to meet them?
If you’re ready for a career shift or an internal shift, you will likely find it at YTT 300. Whether you are here to teach, to transform, or simply to explore quietly — the next step is a conversation with our faculty team to explore what is calling you forward. There are no right answers — only honest ones.
Only as deep as I reach can I grow.
ARE YOU READY ?
Take the Plunge into YTT
A unique curriculum evolving over 15 years with real results.
A 300-hour YTT is as much about human connection as it is about yoga. You’ll form deep friendships while hiking through lush jungle trails with like-minded souls, sharing laughter, sweat, and awe along the way. You’ll breathe together through the intensity of an ice bath, discovering trust, resilience, and mutual support. Immersed in a foreign culture, you’ll connect over shared meals, rituals, and stories, creating bonds that feel real, grounding, and unforgettable long after the training ends. These shared, mind-opening experiences dissolve barriers quickly, turning strangers into a supportive community. What begins as a training often becomes a circle of friends and a sense of belonging that continues well beyond the journey.
If you sense your tribe is waiting for you, book a conversation with our faculty team and explore whether you’re ready to take the plunge into YTT.
Whether you are here to teach, to transform, or simply to explore quietly — this call will help you understand what’s pulling you forward. This is not a sales pitch. There are no right answers — only honest ones.
I’m teaching.

Meet The Teachers
The 300 hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training is taught by Kosta Miachin, the founder of Vikasa along with his team of senior level yoga teachers: an eclectic group of international yogis with a variety of strengths and styles.
Our team is an eclectic group of international yogis with a variety of strengths and styles. Our faculty may shift slightly depending on which dates you attend. All Vikasa teachers have graduated from teacher trainings with a minimum of 200 hour teaching certification recognized by the Yoga Alliance. All have experienced several Yoga Teacher Trainings with a variety of styles and focus. Our vast and combined experience will enrich your education and your yoga career. The course is structured around various techniques, vastly ranging according to the expertise of our diverse team. We believe in the power of self initiative, self love and personal evolution. The only way to truly have an impact on the world is to start with the impact of our own vibrations. We believe in the power of community; that a small group of like minded people have the power to change the world.

His approach has been shaped by long-term immersion in diverse systems and close mentorship under experienced teachers from multiple lineages. Kosta has completed comprehensive training and holds certifications from five established schools: Yoga 23, Sivananda Yoga, Mysore Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Andiappan Yoga, and Universal Yoga. Michael Murray
Yoga Teacher & Group Facilitator
While initially drawn to the physical aspects of yoga, Michael remains stimulated by the interplay between the physical practice and the more spiritual, inner-journey that can be opened up by the physical practice. In pursuit of this interplay, Michael teaches correct alignment and intuitive movement and also facilitates discussions and lectures on emotional intelligence and personal development.

Niki Lundberg
Yoga Teacher & Group Facilitator
Niki believes that yoga can be life-changing, both on an individual and a collective level. She has a background in psychology and an unwavering belief in the importance of combining the physical aspects of yoga with the often neglected spiritual aspects.

I changed my teaching style after a training at Vikasa
This was not my first Yoga Teacher Training, I’ve completed others before but this time I grasped so much detail. I’ve adjusted how I align my students and I definitely teach with more confidence now. This was next level.

Yoga Teacher Training in Thailand was an amazing experience.
The two most amazing things about Vikasa are the food and the people. The teachers are more like friends who share their deepest passion with you. Even if you don’t plan to teach, the experience alone is priceless.

I can’t wait to share everything with my students back home.
This Yoga Teacher Training was emotional! I didn’t really know what I was signing up for but now I can look back and see that something shifted in me. I’m carrying this experience for the rest of my life.

Frequently Asked Questions
Browse the FAQ or get in touch with one of our instructors for personal assistance.
Vikasa is located in Koh Samui, Thailand. Vikasa is located in the south east of the island, close to Lamai and approximately 20 minutes by taxi from Koh Samui International Airport (USM).
The best way to get to Vikasa is to fly into Phuket International Airport. There are daily flights into from Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Dubai, Hong Kong and many others. The Vikasa team will also arrange your pick up from the airport. The drive to Ko Lon where Phuket Vikasa is located is about 1-2 hours from the airport depending on traffic. There is a short, 10 minute long tail boat ride from the mainland of Phuket to Ko Lon.
This will depend on where you are from. For details of Thailand’s visa arrangements with specific countries see here.
Although tourist visas are generally required, there is an exemption for travelers from 30 countries (Australia, UK, USA, France, Germany, Sweden and others) who wish to travel to Thailand for 30 days or less. If you are a citizen of one of these countries you do not need to obtain a visa. Note that if you plan to stay for longer than 30 days, it is possible to obtain a short extension from the immigration office on Koh Samui at some point during your stay.
If you are not a citizen of one of the countries with which Thailand has specific visa exemption or waiver arrangements, you will need to obtain a 30, 60 or 90 day tourist visa before arriving in Thailand
The Advanced 300 Hour YTT is intended for those who have already completed a 200 Hour YTT. You do not have to have completed the Vikasa 200 Hour YTT, as it can be a qualification with any other accredited yoga school.
Yoga clothes, tropical climate clothes, and swimwear. Yoga mats and props and towels are all provided. You may want to add an excursion to your program such as a waterfall hike, in which case a pair of sneakers would also be handy.
Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a certificate confirming your completion of 300 hours of advanced study. Assuming prior completion of a Yoga Alliance-accredited 200 Hour YTT, you will be able to register with Yoga Alliance as an RYT500.
We recommend that participants download the free lifestyle guide and read up on the Vikasa Lifestyle before arrival. If you don’t have time to read it that’s alright too, simply bring an open mind and an open heart.
Many of the students in our 300 Hour YTTs are practicing yoga teachers, however, if you have done a 200 Hour training before and simply wish to join us to deepen your own practice, learn more advanced yoga skills and wisdom, and be part of a transformational 5-week journey, you are more than welcome to join us.
Almost every student always opts to stay onsite for the duration of the training. Vikasa is designed to be the ideal place for you to embark on your training and staying onsite not only means easy access to the yoga salas for all classes, it also means your delicious buffet meals are also included in your training too. Plus, you have access to the infinity pool, secret beach and all Vikasa facilities to enjoy during your free time. You are welcome to find your own accommodation offsite if you prefer. In our experience, it always is more affordable, practical and enjoyable to stay onsite. If you do prefer to stay off site you can choose the ‘meals only’ option on the application form. This means you are requesting no accommodation but you will still enjoy the two buffet meals each day with the group.
Yes! If you are joining the YTT with a friend or partner, you can also request a twin or double room. This means you get a discounted rate so please contact us for more details.
The course dates start on your check in and check out dates. Check in is available from 2pm. On the first day there is a group dinner and casual information session. Offical classes will start on day two. On the final day, you will enjoy brunch and check out is at 12 noon.
You are more than welcome to book additional nights before or after the offical training dates. Simply contact us to enquire about pricing and availability. Or let us know on your application you would like to book additional nights. YTT students to get a discount on the regular nightly rate. The regular nightly rate also includes twice daily buffet meals, access to all public yoga classes and all facilities. Many students do like to arrive a few days early to acclimatise, especially after a long journey. Many students do also end up extending their stay after the YTT.
