We incorporate the practice of pranayama, and breath control during both private and group sessions. Prana is the energy of life that spreads throughout everything that exists. Prana links the mind and the physical body, powers our hearts and activates physical functions. The physical practice of yoga postures—also known as asanas – support work with the mind, where stress and other sufferings originate. Learning asanas will help you to strengthen your physique and to release stress at the same time. No need for expensive equipment – a mat and a positive mindset are all that’s needed! Meditation teaches us how to clear the mind of such stressors and to be calm and clear in our thoughts. This creates an ability to focus with precision while in a state of deep relaxation. Nutrition is a key part of feeling energized and healthier. Discovering a better relationship with food is a key part of the Recharge Personal Program.

Vikasa Yoga Retreat in Koh Samui offers several types of accommodation ranging from simple eco-friendly bamboo bungalows to full-sized rooms. We are not a one-size-fits-all kind of place. Our rooms are democratically priced because we believe this range of accommodation allows for a wider range of students to experience Vikasa.
Our rooms celebrate simplicity. We have minimal decorations to create a feeling of zen. There are no TVs or fancy mini bars. We are a relaxed establishment where you can unplug and reconnect to something deeper in a meaningful way. You will notice some of our room options have a “+” which means they are a little bit bigger than the standard category.
Tips for choosing your perfect room: If you like to stay close to the beach, check out the cabanas in our Prana Village. If you prefer a garden location with sustainable bamboo huts, try the Zen Bungalows. If you don’t want to walk down too many stairs you can be near the action in one of our budget-friendly Yoga Caves. If you need a bit of extra space, comfort and a central location, the Lotus Village is a good start.
Vikasa is truly a paradise location which adds an extra dimension to your yoga practice as a whole. The environment is conducive to relaxing where you can disconnect from the hustle and bustle and allow you to focus inwards on your practice and spiritual growth.

Vikasa is located on Koh Samui, which is an island in the Gulf of Thailand. Vikasa is in the south east corner of the island, in between Chaweng Noi and Lamai. Vikasa is a 20 minute drive from Koh Samui International Airport (USM) and a 35 minute drive from the Nathon and Lipa Noi ferry terminals.
The best way to get to Vikasa is to fly into Koh Samui International Airport (USM). There are daily flights into Koh Samui from Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and others. We will arrange your pick up from the airport.

Although tourist visas are generally required, there is an exemption for travellers from 30 countries (Australia, UK, USA, France, Germany, Sweden and others) who wish to travel to Thailand for 30 days or less. If you are a citizen of one of these countries you do not need to obtain a visa. Note that if you plan to stay for longer than 30 days, it is possible to obtain a short extension from the immigration office on Koh Samui at some point during your stay.
If you are not a citizen of one of the countries with which Thailand has specific visa exemption or waiver arrangements, you will need to obtain a 30, 60 or 90 day tourist visa before arriving in Thailand
This program is designed for people of all levels of wellness experience. Personal programs are a great way to recharge your energy in a tropical paradise and learn correct habits and techniques.
Yoga clothes, tropical climate clothes and swimwear. Yoga mats and props and towels are all provided. You may want to add an excursion to your program such as a waterfall hike, in which case a pair of sneakers would also be handy. If you want to use the Sky Gym during your stay you’ll need gym clothes too.
Personal Programs are taught by experienced health coaches who have undergone specific training and scrutiny in their field. Rest assured your health coach will have the skills and experience to make your program effective and enjoyable.
Koh Samui is a beautiful tropical island located in the Gulf of Thailand. It is approximately 90 minutes from the mainland via ferry, but is easily accessible via airplane. It has a population of around 70,000 people and has key infrastructure such as a small international airport, good medical facilities (including hospitals), banking facilities (including ATMs), good wifi coverage and good roads. It is possible to drive around the entire island in around 90 minutes, and visitors generally either travel via scooter or taxi as walking is difficult. Vikasa is located between Chaweng Noi and Lamai in a quiet area of the island. It is possible to walk from Vikasa to nearby beaches, but guests generally stay on the Vikasa premises or rent scooters or taxis for trips to nearby markets and shopping malls. The weather is generally hot year round, with temperatures often around 30 degrees celsius.
We recommend that participants download the free lifestyle guide and read up on the Vikasa Lifestyle before arrival. If you don’t have time to read it that’s ok too, we will review some content during your program.
The Recharge private coaching sessions provide the tools to determine how to build yourself a more positive environment. You will learn how to gently impose the Vikasa lifestyle on your own daily routine and surroundings. You will be able to enforce positive habits and stimuli and turn away from the negative to be the best you can be. The tools you learn will enable you to eschew the negative and turn towards more positive, affirming influences in your life. Embrace what is best for the new you. The Vikasa lifestyle will be your bedrock, a point of reference you can turn to when you are stressed or uncertain. You will feel able to cope with any and allow you to uncover unconscious patterns and behaviors that are keeping you from living a balanced life. It is important to understand your complex relationship with food and to find a dietary regime that nourishes you. Best of all, you will discover a range of wholesome, organic foods that you can enjoy eating! Our wellness coaches will review your previous eating habits and help you to experiment with new types of foods to find a new approach to diet. Can you imagine feeling more energized, vibrant – even creative – simply by eating differently? What we eat doesn’t simply affect our weight; it also affects our emotional state and mental health. Like prescription drugs, our food intake has a chemical effect on our mental and physical systems, affecting memory, attention span, and emotions. Developing our awareness is the only way to break addictive habits that may be affecting this dynamic in a way that does us great harm.
Sometimes we are turned away from our true inner self and eventually forget it's there. As a result, we forget about WHAT we are, WHERE we are and WHY we are here. During the course, you will learn about Ujjayi pranayama (often known as Ocean Breath) to strengthen the diaphragm, and calm the central nervous system. This also helps to combat a range of chronic complaints such as colds, liver problems, and mental and emotional imbalances.We will also teach you the calming techniques of Nadi Shodhana, a breathing exercise that balances the masculine energies of the body (which provide heating, stimulating, active functions) and the feminine (which are cooling, calming, and passive). This will aid concentration and release accumulated stress.
Being equipped with breathing techniques and nutritional information will provide a solid platform on which to base your lifestyle. However, these alone will not precipitate dramatic change without learning how to fortify your mindset and adapt your environment to one more conducive to your new-found habits. Your life philosophy is created by your own thoughts and beliefs, which mold your perception of your environment and, in turn, your own reality. This can be positive or negative, depending on your mindset and on which aspects of your reality you place your focus.
This self-sufficiency is a cornerstone of The Vikasa Lifestyle, as we believe firmly that a longer and healthier life is a gift for you to give yourself through better lifestyle choices. One misconception that we often hear from clients is that more money and material wealth will make them happier. Often people cling to the hope that working longer hours and focusing on professional life will lead to happiness and inner peace. However, ‘retail therapy’, the rush of a buying a new car or adding to our wardrobe really only amounts to superficial quick fixes. They increase anxiety-causing financial debt and put us out of touch with who we really are, and what we actually want. Spending cash never truly addresses the root of our unhappiness.Society seems to urge us to join the rat race with superficial rewards, but at some point, most of us find ourselves asking why we don’t feel fulfilled by the 9-to-5 existence. The Recharge program will aim to make you less susceptible to the sales pitches of industries with a vested interest in keeping you dependent. depressed.
