What is Vikasa AXIS?

Redefine Your Practice Across 360 Degrees

Vikasa AXIS is an innovative, dynamic yoga system that transforms traditional linear practice into a complete 360-degree journey. Drawing inspiration from Universal Yoga, AXIS utilizes two mats arranged in a cross layout to allow practitioners to move fluidly through space while drawing mandala-like geometric patterns across all four cardinal directions. By combining moderate-length pose holds with rotational vinyasa, AXIS challenges spatial awareness, develops multidirectional mobility, and seamlessly integrates movement, breathwork, and meditation into one immersive experience.

At the core of the system is its unique cross-mat setup, which provides total freedom of movement and unlocks dynamic transitions impossible on a single mat. As sequences flow through circular patterns—turning north, east, south, and west—the practice creates a harmonious balance of strength and flexibility. AXIS goes far beyond physical posture by weaving pranayama and meditation directly into every sequence, ensuring complete energetic balance and deep mental focus. Built on intelligent sequencing, functional anatomy, and efficient movement principles, the method naturally accommodates all skill levels through clear modifications while keeping structural safety at its foundation.

Whether you are a dedicated yogi or an experienced teacher, Vikasa AXIS offers a transformative next step in your practice. For practitioners, it provides a fresh opportunity to break free from rigid linear routines, build spatial intelligence, and experience a deeply grounding physical journey. For yoga teachers, mastering this methodology provides a rare opportunity to expand your toolkit, master complex rotational sequencing, and offer a highly distinctive class style that truly sets you apart in the yoga community.
