Learn At Vikasa Yoga Retreat
The curriculum for the 100 hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training is based on the below three pillars. Daily asana and meditation practice give a grounded sense of routine while specific lectures and workshops allow for more focused learning.
Relax, Release, Restore
The key benefit of Yin Yoga is that it allows us to access the calm, quiet centre that lies within.
Due to our busy, chaotic, stress-filled modern lives, stillness and patience are rarely practiced. So accessing this inner softness and kindness is not just a relief, but necessary for many, to balance our mind and body. Yin Yoga is a slower, more subtle, more meditative and introspective style of yoga. This change of pace allows us to tune in to our thoughts and feelings more easily, going deeper into the mind than other faster paced styles and working with deeper layers within our body.
Yin Yoga has a big focus not only on the physical body but the subtle, energetic layers that we can’t see with the human eye. While there is a lot of attention placed on connective tissues, Yin Yoga also looks into our energy points and channels – bringing together traditional Hatha Yoga and Chinese Medicine. Yin Yoga examines in greater detail the mental aspects of yoga. Cultivation of stillness and the Buddhist concept of mindfulness, is one of the main intentions of a Yin Yoga practice. Practicing Yin Yoga alongside the more active, dynamic styles, will give you a more balanced level of health – Yin in harmony with Yang.
This course is designed to be all-inclusive and immersive, so you can focus purely on your growth for the life-changing time you are in Thailand.

Meet A True Yin Yoga Teacher
Alicia Casillas is a true Yin Yoga teacher. While some practitioners teach dynamic Yang Yoga with a bit of Yin on the side, she specializes in Yin as the core of teaching style.
With her soft and soothing Spanish aura, Alicia has the perfect tonality for a relaxing yin session. But more importantly, what comes through in her voice and approach is her authenticity and her genuine care for her students. Her classes usually play to the sublime sound of singing bowls or beautiful ambient music. This helps her create a sacred space for her students to absorb her instruction.
Alicia has been practicing and teaching around North America, Europe and Asia for more than 10 years. She is an experienced and certified yoga teacher (E-RYT 500) and a continuing education provider with Yoga Alliance. In her impressive professional athlete-turned-yogi career, she has completed over 300 hours of trainings with Yin Yoga master Sarah Powers, Tina Nance And Jamie Clarke. She has also attended several anatomy and physiology trainings in different healing modalities such as cranio-sacral and reiki. Her range of expertise gives her classes a holistic understanding of the body, mind and energy.

You will receive a certificate of completion of 100 Hours of training. This course constitutes 100 YACEP (or continuing education) hours which can be registered with Yoga Alliance. This course (of itself) does not qualify you to teach yoga – you need to have also completed a 200 Hour Foundation YTT course in order to qualify as a yoga teacher.
Vikasa is located on Koh Samui, which is an island in the Gulf of Thailand. Vikasa is in the south east corner of the island, in between Chaweng Noi and Lamai. Vikasa is a 20 minute drive from Koh Samui International Airport (USM) and a 35 minute drive from the Nathon and Lipa Noi ferry terminals.
The best way to get to Vikasa is to fly into Koh Samui International Airport (USM). There are daily flights into Koh Samui from Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and others. We will arrange your pick up from the airport.
This will depend on where you are from. For details of Thailand’s visa arrangements with specific countries see here:
Although tourist visas are generally required, there is an exemption for travellers from 30 countries (Australia, UK, USA, France, Germany, Sweden and others) who wish to travel to Thailand for 30 days or less. If you are a citizen of one of these countries you do not need to obtain a visa. Note that if you plan to stay for longer than 30 days, it is possible to obtain a short extension from the immigration office on Koh Samui at some point during your stay.
If you are not a citizen of one of the countries with which Thailand has specific visa exemption or waiver arrangements, you will need to obtain a 30, 60 or 90 day tourist visa before arriving in Thailand
This training is suitable for participants of all levels.
Yoga clothes, tropical climate clothes and swimwear. Yoga mats and props and towels are all provided. You may want to add an excursion to your program such as a waterfall hike, in which case a pair of sneakers would also be handy. If you want to use the Sky Gym during your stay you’ll need gym clothes too.
Koh Samui is a beautiful tropical island located in the Gulf of Thailand. It is approximately 90 minutes from the mainland via ferry, but is easily accessible via airplane. It has a population of around 70,000 people and has key infrastructure such as a small international airport, good medical facilities (including hospitals), banking facilities (including ATMs), good wifi coverage and good roads. It is possible to drive around the entire island in around 90 minutes, and visitors generally either travel via scooter or taxi as walking is difficult. Vikasa is located between Chaweng Noi and Lamai in a quiet area of the island. It is possible to walk from Vikasa to nearby beaches, but guests generally stay on the Vikasa premises or rent scooters or taxis for trips to nearby markets and shopping malls. The weather is generally hot year round, with temperatures often around 30 degrees celsius.
We recommend that participants download the free lifestyle guide and read up on the Vikasa Lifestyle before arrival. If you don’t have time to read it that’s ok too, we will review some content during your program.
